It's as central as possible, you can walk to Central Park, and it's full of the unbridled energy that makes New York special. We'll say it gets a little overwhelming near Times Square. For most visitors (whether for the first time or returning), staying in New York City usually means staying in Manhattan.
And the best area to stay in Manhattan for most tourists is somewhere near Times Square. The largest neighborhood surrounding Times Square is called the Theater District. And the Theater District is located in the center of Manhattan. Practically any hotel in Midtown will place you within walking distance of Times Square, all the Broadway plays and shows, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, the shops on Fifth Avenue and the Museum of Modern Art.

They're all great places to stay in New York, but in particular, couples, families with older children, and individuals traveling alone will enjoy staying in these areas of SoHo, New York.
